The frescoes of Lascaux constitute the decor of the entrance. The exhibition opens with a S-shaped gallery imitating rock. At either side of this gallery, the showcases trace the evolution of the techniques, the equipment and the activities of the speleologists since Martel time (1890). All the works dealing with measurement, photography, diving and underground rescue are considered thanks to the original equipment presented on models. This (ready for use) equipment is used in rescues. The well documented themes are clearly organized and provide the audience with an enthralling sight of the activities of today and yesterday's speleologists. Some explanatory texts, written in three languages, guide the visitor in his discovery.

The thematic presentation of the equipment continues in the big room devoted to applied caving, illustrated by practical cases like the study on mines or the underground waters. The last area of the Museum is used for a slide show which explains the history of the formation, life and the death of caves thanks to a big animated scale model. The natural process as well as the speleological activities are represented in a really vivid manner. Besides, the museum organizes temporary exhibitions.
